A Taste of Daily Life in Class 1/2

Our classroom doors open at 8.45, by Mrs Aspden and Mrs Prideaux ready for our day to
begin with a smile on everyone’s faces while we take part in collective worship. We start our
day with our Phonics lesson where we complete lessons to support the children’s learning.
After Phonics we have playtime, this gives us a chance to use the fitness equipment outside
or take part in the range of playground games with our friends. After playtime, it’s time to
refuel with milk and toast
Our next lesson of the day is English where the children work hard to apply their phonics and
are given the opportunity to write using some fantastic texts.
After lunch is Maths, where we follow the White Rose Maths curriculum. Throughout the
week we also practice our timetables and arithmetic.
After we have had our playtime to recharge ourselves we are ready to complete our topic
lessons of Science, History, Geography, Religious Education, Music, Computing and Art &
Design.
At the end of each day, we finish with a story that we have chosen. Developing a love of
reading continues to be of great importance. We will be encouraging your child to read for
pleasure as much as possible at home.
We acknowledge achievements by receiving stickers and Dojo points and being praised for
our achievements in assemblies.
Our classroom is a happy, safe place, just the right environment to learn and have fun. Each
child will be supported to flourish into confident and unique individuals.
