Mrs Ward

Miss Ashby

A typical day in Class 6

Teacher: Mrs Ward/Miss Ashby TA: Mrs Brooks

Our classroom doors are open at 8.45, by Mrs Ward or Mrs Brooks ready to wish us a ‘Good morning’ We have time to finish our bagels, get our equipment ready for the day and have some reading time. Then we are ready for our day…Our registration activities include Reading Plus, SPaG Spotter, TT Rockstars and ‘Chilli challenge’ where we can practise the skills we are learning to help us become ‘Masters of our Learning’.

First up is English, where we cover everything from Picture books to Shakespeare!

Playtime gives us a chance to use the fitness equipment outside or take part in the range of playground games with our friends; there’s even a daily mile to try. After playtime, it’s time to refuel with milk, toast or a healthy snack.

Next is Maths, where we follow the White Rose Maths curriculum.

It is a jam-packed morning of learning, so before lunchtime it is time for our half an hour class reading time where we ‘get comfy’ and enjoy our latest class novel. Some of the Class 6 favourites include; Wonder by RJ Palacio, The Wizards of Once by Cressida Cowell and many more.

Time for dinner before we head into our afternoon lessons where we focus on a broad and balanced curriculum; Science, History, RE, Art and Design, DT, Music, French - to name but a few. We are extremely lucky to have two fantastic PE and Sport specialists who teach us for PE; Miss Jackson on a Wednesday afternoon and Mrs Walsh on a Friday afternoon.

Our school day finishes with a prayer to reflect on all we are grateful for and ask God to keep us safe while we wait to see each other again in school.

In our classroom we adopt a positive attitude by remembering that the smallest word ‘yet’ can make the biggest difference - ‘I might not have mastered it ‘yet’ but I will!’ We work hard to ensure that pupils’ final year of primary school gives them the tools they need to succeed at High School and in the world beyond education, and is full of memories they can look back on with faith, hope and love in the years ahead.
