A taste of daily life in the Reception classes

Our morning starts at 8:45 when the children can come into school to enjoy a bagel/toast and a bottle of milk before registration at 8:55. The children then go into Read, Write, Inc groups for their daily phonic lesson, where they learn sounds, blending and segmenting skills, letter formation and reading activities. After this, children go outside to explore the outdoor environment, before returning to the carpet for our literacy input. This is followed by discovery time where the children have the opportunities to take part in a range of open-ended activities in our indoor and outdoor provisions. Throughout the day, children participate in a variety of adult-led and focused activities.

Before lunch, the children take part in daily worship and enjoy exploring the outdoor environment.

In the afternoon, we have a register, followed by a maths input and activities. The children continue to access discovery time and focus activities, before participating in a whole class carpet session focusing on an area of learning. E.g. PSED, RE, Listening and Attention, Music, Understanding the World.

The children then join in with a whole class snack time, where they are provided with a piece of fruit and drink of water.

The day finishes with a class story and a home time prayer.
